SSBS #012: The Ultimate B-Corporaton Gift Guide

If you’re a shopper who is interested in supporting companies who care about people and the planet, then this email is for you. Because today, I’m sharing with you a fun list of products and companies who are making amazingly cool things, while also being mindful of their impact on the planet and its inhabitants! These companies have achieved a crucial certification that means, they’ve gone above and beyond to achieve certain standards of quality and sustainability - they’re B-corporations.
A B-corporation is a mission driven company that balances both purpose and profit, and they meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. B corporations have to pass a grueling assessment to achieve this certification, so you can’t just pay to play! These companies are the real deal, and get scored on their impact on workers, community, environment, customers and company structure. If you want to vote with your dollars this holiday season, choosing companies who are B-corp certified is one way to confidently vote for the health of our planet.
Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to find out all the companies that are B-corporations that could be potentially selling products you might want to buy! B-corps aren’t just retail companies, so filtering through them all can be time consuming and overwhelming.
When we’re overwhelmed, we have a tendency to either get paralyzed and do nothing, or go back to our old ways of out of habit.
Aside from that, there are a few other reasons we may not shop through more mindful companies this season, and those might be:
We think they might be outside of our budget
We think that they might be too “crunchy” for our friends and family
We think that maybe there isn’t a B-corp selling what we need/want
We think our purchasing decisions won’t make an impact on people and the planet
These are all valid concerns, but I’m here to tell you friend that each of these concerns are unfounded! There are so many B-corp options out there for every budget, style, product, etc. who are doing POWERFUL work with their profits and companies.
And I’m going to make this so easy for you, I’m going to give you a list with clickable links of some of my favorite B-corporations to shop from this year, along with items I’d love to gift or get myself! Let’s dive in!
Clothing and Accessories
Here are some of my favorite clothing and wearable item companies that are doing such good work! I’ve even identified some of the items on my wish list this year you might like too!
This B Corp is dedicated to “menstrual justice” or “period equity,” advocating for social inclusion and equity so that all people with periods can menstruate with dignity.
